Art & Design at Red Hill helps learners develop positive attitudes to creative thinking and creative subjects, which benefits future learning. This subject encourages them to celebrate their own and others’ artistic experiences. This builds a sense of community in the classroom from an early age and fosters an openness to diversity as they experience art and design from different times and cultures.
Art at Red Hill gives learners the space to explore and express themselves freely, supporting the development of social and reflective skills, and encouraging teachers to nurture an environment where learners can take risks and build resilience.
“A high-quality art and design education should engage, inspire and challenge pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. “(National Curriculum 2014)

Our approach empowers children to not only explore but also to experiment, invent, and craft their own unique pieces of art and design.

IPC
At Red Hill, Design and Technology gives learners the opportunity to explore and express themselves freely. From the moment the design brief is introduced, the children go on a journey through exploration, inventiveness, resilience and reflection. Design Technology is embedded within the IPC topics, where meaningful links to other areas of the curriculum are evident across the school. Following the design process is vital, from research and planning to designing, making and evaluating, all of which equally contribute to the childrens’ successes and achievements. Practical skills are at the centre of this foundation subject, preparing our children for the future.
